The Fezza will have to sweat it a bit more to catch the P1, but if you think about it, any one of the cars above can take a lead on any lap and hold it for as many as 7 laps for the LaFerrari, 8 for the 918, and 9 for the McLaren, and even those leads wouldn’t be so large. They’re just neck-and-neck-and-neck.
Also, what a glorious dance these three did.

I’m sure with stickier tires the LaFerrari could get closer to the P1. The tires were screeching through the majority of the lap for the LaFerrari.

I believe they are equally fast, but there is a possibility the Fezza could be the fastest in a road-legal setup. Put all three cars on P-Zero Corsas (the Porsche is on Michelins) and no Track-mode for the McLaren. The decreased ride height adds a lot of downforce. That would be the most “equal” test.

I have to agree with Chris Harris here, putting the P1 in track mode. They used all three cars in the best setting provided by the company, if they denied McLaren their best setting now that would be cheating.

They talked a lot about the tires used on the P1 and the LaFerrari, but how do the 918’s tires compare to the Pirellis that the others use? Are they about the same?

If a competitor has to handicap themselves for someone else to win, the “winner” didn't win.

I just think it is amazing that these three companies made three very different hybrid hypercars that are so closely matched.

This is all just confirmation that I was right back in 2013.

It’s the kind of natural closeness and variety that many classes of motorsport can only dream of.

I’m partial to the 918 because I think it’s beautiful and the love of Porsche runs through my veins (family heritage), but it’s clear watching the end of the video that, while the 918 is a terribly impressive piece of machinery, it doesn’t give the joy that the F70 and the P1 can give. Granted, you’re getting that perception from two hooligans that love RWD and tail-out action, but it seems like the 918 could be considered the GT-R of this bunch. The heaviest, capable of doing impossible things in spite of its weight, and maybe the one that feels the most disconnected. I’d still love to own one.
But damn, the noises that Ferrari makes...

Sound like the glorious 70’s, yeah?
